TDI designed a robotic machining center with an electric spindle motor and automatic tool change for Bode. This cell is used to process structural insulated panels into modular homes.

TDI designed a depositor capable of depositing mash potato. This machine is used in the production of potato top pies. This depositor is also able to deposit various other products.

TDI designed four different mold patterns, each containing multiple components. The design process involved selecting a pattern layout, designing molding features such as runner, gates and risers, and developing the cope and drag patterns.

Band Tillage Machine

TDI completed the design of two Band Tillage machines for Palmerston North company Precision Cultivation. The machines perform cutting, ripping, tilling, flattening and sowing operations in banded soil rows. TDI developed two machine variants – one with six cultivating rows at a 500mm pitch, and one with four cultivating rows at a 750mm pitch.

TDI was contracted to design four stations of a large washing machine cabinet production line. Two of these stations were clinching stations with double axis servo control of the tooling, one was an indexing and clinching station, and the fourth was a pick and place servo motor transfer station. The work involved concept generation, detailed design, FEA simulation and producing manufacturing drawings.

TDI developed a design to strengthen an ice-cream stall and allow it to to raise and lower automatically on electric linear actuators. Our customer now has the coolest stall in town!

TDI completed the design of a large upgrade to an existing automated fridge cabinet production line in North America. This upgrade allowed size changeability between product models and included the design of complex, high-speed transfer systems as well as manually actuated mechanism. Full working drawings were completed for manufacture.

TDI completed the design of an automated front end of a bread line (for an Australian bakery). This automatically unloads stacks of empty bread crates from a dolly platform into the machine, then singulates and conveys into a washer. Full working drawings were completed for manufacture

As part of an internal project TDI is working on the design of an automated batch and dispatch system. ​This system will work with powder product - e.g. malt, coffee - and will automatically dispense product from a number of different hoppers according to customer orders - e.g. different malt combinations for home brewing. ​ ​The machine will meter the product, mix it together, dispense the correct quantity, bag it and even order the courier for final delivery!
